1/20 Feature Writing continued...

Professionalism assignment:

Sit at tables and put your phones away until I am finished with the direct teach. One of your grades today will be based on those two criteria only. Let me be clear that the phones must be put completely away--no earphones/headsets, etc. This grade cannot be made up.

Agenda: Feature Writing Continued

Objectives: Students will share, critique, re-write, edit, and publish their articles. Self-evaluations will follow. Refer to 1/15 Feature writing assignment for .pdfs.

Direct Teach: 10 minutes reminding students of possible structures for Feature Articles.

All example articles can be found at Pulitzer.org.

Chronological: See "A drama critic meets his match."

Comparative: See the MLK/Desmond Tutu example in "Martin Luther King, Jr., cared about means as well as ends."

4. A surprising twist.

5. An interesting anecdote.
